The Township is excited to announce that in partnership with the Windermere Community a new playground will be installed at the Windermere Village Hall Park and we want to hear your ideas to help guide the design! This project page will be used to get collect input on what you would like to see in the park. This includes the design of the new playground, as well as replacements and upgrades to existing park amenities (i.e. benches, etc.).

Parks are important for establishing and maintaining the quality of life of Muskoka Lakes residents, the identity of the community, and fostering healthy lifestyles, environments. Whether you are a casual park user, someone that frequents parks to unwind and play, or is just interested in the future of Muskoka Lakes parks, we want to hear from you!

The project costs will be split between Council approved budget and funds raised by the community. Improvements to the overall space will include a new playground, additional seating, landscaping, etc.

We are looking for community participation to provide feedback and insight. Your input will help guide us to plan the right play equipment for your neighbourhood. Some of the considerations that are included through the design process include theme, layout, inclusivity and making the play equipment fun for a wide range of abilities, as well as specific comments from community members.

Playground installation could include:

Play features may include various climbing structures, swings, slides, and updates to colour schemes and themes of the playground. Other improvements may also be considered such as replacement of existing playground surfacing, new or reconfigured pathway connections and site furniture such as benches and trash receptacles.

Playground installation will not include:

Large material changes to existing playground surfacing, building new splashpads, and other large amenities or features. These amenities are not a part of neighbourhood park replacement projects at this time.

Starting in May of 2025, we reached out to the community for input on the proposed elements for the Windermere Park playground. We received some great feedback, and with all suggestions being taken into account, the images below represent the playground that we will see come to life at Windermere Park in the coming months!

    Some of the upgrades included:

    • Swing structure to match the earthscape wood play structure
    • Larger slide to accommodate more ages
    • Larger climbing structure to accommodate more ages
    • Inclusive elements (accessible grand cover, reach ranges, etc.)

    Additional Upgrades for Consideration

Additional items that will be considered should the community group be able to raise the additional funds, would be a half court basketball net and an extra bay on the swing structure for a basket swing.
