Consultation has concluded

The Township of Muskoka Lakes is in the process of updating its Strategic Plan. This summer, the Township's consultant, StrategyCorp, held a four-part workshop series with Council to develop potential goals and initiatives that could form the basis of the strategic plan. The next phase in the process is to seek feedback from the Muskoka Lakes community on the draft elements developed by Council.

Muskoka Lakes is also in the process of working with Meridian Planning Consultants to update the Township's Official Plan. These are separate, but equally important projects. A brief refresher on the difference between the two documents follows.

  • Strategic Plan: Strategic planning is an important tool that the Township will use to bring together residents, members of Council, and staff in the development of a common vision, direction, and goals for the Muskoka Lakes community. A successful strategic plan is a guiding document that will support Council decision-making and staff activities to ensure that the Township is moving in the right direction.
  • Official Plan: The Official Plan sets out where residential, commercial, institutional, and employment areas are to be located and how they will grow. It provides details about the Township’s infrastructure, as well as parks, recreational facilities, and community services. It also provides a foundation for the Township’s planning strategies and infrastructure master plans.
