As identified in the Township's Parks and Trails Standards Manual, Community and Destination scaled parks are to have Development Plans established to assist with 10-year Capital Budget planning. These parks may include active and/or passive uses, typically having intensive recreational uses such as sports fields, sports courts, playgrounds and water play, amenity/support buildings and parking facilities.

The identified Community and Destination Township Parks include:

In 2026, staff plan to work with the community on Development Plans including landscape concepts and playground designs for the parks identified above have amenities requiring replacement in the near future. Upon community consultation and finalized concept plans, the 10-year Capital Plan can be updated to reflect the community needs and desires for both properties should there be any changes from the current amenities provided.

The first step will be to host public engagement opportunities to gather input and ideas related to the parks and properties.

The second step will be to review and gather input on the draft landscape concepts, based on the feedback received from Phase One.

    The final landscape concepts for Hanna Park and Milford Bay Community Centre are here!

    From gathering community input throughout the landscape design process, on December 10, 2025, Council approved staff's recommendations (in Staff Report OS-2025-057) that related to improving the layout of the parks, which included:

    • Hanna Park
      • Moving boat parking dock (16) to other side of point to allow the top end to remain a quiet area; and
      • Moving painted games (14) to the court versus the walking path.
    • Milford Bay
      • Moved half court near playground (12) and combine with the addition to current courts (26);
      • Allowed outdoor washroom (27) to be located in previous half court near playground (12).


    WHATS NEXT | Community engagement on specific playground structures will be open early 2026. With the importance significance of the Hanna Park playground to this community, staff are engaging with the vendor to preserve as much of the existing playground as possible in these new designs.
