Council Approves Revised Development Applications (July 2026)

Thank you to everyone who has taken the time to learn about the proposed Bala Legion redevelopment and provide feedback throughout the planning process.

What happened last?

At its July 29, 2026 meeting, Council approved the revised Official Plan Amendment and Zoning By-law Amendment applications for the proposed Bala Legion redevelopment at 1011 Maple Avenue. The revised applications were informed by technical review, agency comments, and feedback received throughout the public consultation process.

What's next?

The Notice of Passing has now been issued by the Township of Muskoka Lakes, and the 20-day appeal period is underway in accordance with the Planning Act, closing August 27, 2026.

If no appeals are received before the appeal period closes, the Official Plan Amendment (OPA) will then move forward to the District Municipality of Muskoka for approval before the Township approved Zoning By-law Amendments could come into effect. If an appeal is received, the application will move forward through the applicable appeal process.
