Post-Meeting Updates | Planning Committee (March 12, 2026)

At the latest Planning Committee meeting on March 12, Committee reviewed and discussed the draft Noise By-law for the first time since Township staff gathered initial feedback from the community to begin updates. Under the direction of Committee, staff will amend section 5.3 of the draft by-law to extend the weekday restrictions on construction-related noise from 6 a.m. to 7 a.m.:

5.3 No Person shall cause or permit the emission of any Noise, which is clearly audible at a Point of Reception, on the following days and times, resulting from the operation of Vehicles or Equipment in connection with Construction, or other similar commercial or domestic activities:

5.3.1 Monday 8:00 pm to Tuesday 7:00 am

5.3.2 Tuesday 8:00 pm to Wednesday 7:00 am

5.3.3 Wednesday 8:00 pm to Thursday 7:00 am

5.3.4 Thursday 8:00 pm to Friday 7:00 am

5.3.5 Friday 8:00 pm to Saturday 9:00 am

5.3.6 Saturday 8:00 pm to Sunday 9:00 am

5.3.7 Sunday 8:00 pm to Monday 7:00 am

The Township will also be connecting with the OPP on a plan to help address disruptive behaviour following large events in Bala.

A future Public Meeting will provide another opportunity for the community to review the updated draft by-law, ask questions, and share feedback before the by-law is considered for approval. Residents are encouraged to stay informed by following the project page and reviewing the staff report and draft by-law.
