Final Playground Design Complete: What's Next for Hanna Park?

Thank you to everyone who has followed, participated in and shared feedback throughout the engagement portion of this project.

Following Council's direction on July 29, staff have been working with Earthscape to refine the playground layout and finalize the design. We're pleased to share that the final playground design is now complete.

The final design builds on a concept more closely reflecting the character of the existing playground, while meeting today's safety and accessibility standards.

The design carries forward many of the qualities the community told us were important, including timber play towers, connected and elevated play elements, climbing opportunities, slides, imaginative play and accessible features.

With the design now finalized, construction is expected to begin on September 14, 2026, at which time the playground area will be closed until further notice, with the new playground anticipated to open in Spring 2027.

Celebrating 25+ Years of Play, With Many More to Come | Community Event

More than 25 years ago, community members came together to help build the Hanna Park Playground. Since then, generations of children and families have climbed its towers, crossed its bridges and made countless memories along the way.

Now, Hanna Park is getting ready for an exciting new chapter. Before construction begins, we’re bringing the community together to celebrate the memories made here and look forward to this next chapter of play, exploration and adventure.

Join us for a special community celebration at Hanna Park. The Township’s Manager of Parks, Recreation and Facilities, Corey Moore, will be there to walk through the new design, answer questions and share more about what’s ahead. Complimentary refreshments, ice cream sandwiches and popsicles will also be available.
